Family-owned for three generations, this National Historic Landmark has always embraced its rich history, while keeping up with current times. That means today, guests enjoy modern amenities while the hotel’s original architecture and charm have been tastefully preserved. To give guests a unique experience, each of Grand Hotel’s 397 guest rooms have been individually decorated by the hotel’s longtime interior designer, Carleton Varney of Dorothy Draper & Co. Accommodations options vary, from interior and lakeview guest rooms, to One-Bedroom and Two-Bedroom Suites, to the private Masco Cottage.
The hotel’s Named Rooms and Suites feature their own thematic designs based on popular decorating styles, historical figures, locations and United States First Ladies. In 2018, Grand Hotel added two new Named Rooms: the Prentiss M. Brown Suite honours the legacy of the first Chairman of the Mackinac Bridge Authority and the Lilac Suite is an ode to Mackinac Island’s signature flower with custom-designed carpet and fabrics
