Canadian Rockies & Alaskan Explorer - a great Canada holiday

 

On your arrival you will spend 2 nights in Canmore, a must see area just outside of Banff National Park, this picturesque town has home to the Three Sisters Peaks and offers many stunning walks. From Canmore we will take you to Banff, the heart of the Rocky Mountains. You will explore the national park before a boat cruise on Lake Minnewanka, the following day we have the Columbia Icefield Discovery tour, this offers stunning scenery and a visit to Lake Louise - the most iconic lake in Canada if not the world. Board the world famous Rocky Mountaineer train from Banff on a 2 day journey through the Rockies ending in coastal Vancouver. An upgrade to GoldLeaf Service is included on this sensational trip.

You will spend 3 nights in vibrant Vancouver where you can visit the many attractions and savour the atmosphere of one of the best cities in the world to live in. We have also included a full day tour to Whistler stopping at the beautiful Shannon Falls and a ride on the scenic Sea to Sky gondola.

From Vancouver you will board your Celebrity Cruise for your incredible 7 night Alaska Cruise. You will visit local towns on the way, while taking in wildlife and glaciers. Then it's back to Vancouver and your flight home.

Day 2 - Explore Canmore

This morning enjoy an immersive walking tour of Canmore. Rated as a leisurely walk, the historical walk brings the sights and sounds of the wild west to life and is suitable for the whole family! A truly authentic local experience! Activity level for this tour is rated easy with mostly flat elevation. This is a 90 minute tour, allowing you the remainder of the day to explore Canmore and the many walking trails on offer from the downtown area.  We recommend taking a short stroll along the river to Engine Bridge for some beautiful views over to the Three Sisters Peaks, lunch and/or drinks on the outdoor patio if weather permits at the Grizzly Paw Brewery, we can also book you a various helicopter rides, please ask you Canada Expert for more details.

Day 3 - Explore Banff with Gondola & Lake Minnewanka

This morning you will need to make your own way to the Coast Hotel where youwill be picked up with your luggage and taken on the Explore Banff with Gondola & Lake Minnewanka cruise tour. At the end of the tour you will be dropped off in Banff.

Since it was first settled in the 1880s, the Town of Banff has lured visitors from around the world. Explore the geology and culture of fantastic lifestyle that makes Banff the kind of place people want to move to forever. Banff's historic town centre is alive with shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants. You'll explore the iconic highlights and take in multiple views of the famous peaks. Then, you'll ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain on the incredible Banff Gondola for a 360-degree view of the Bow Valley. Complete the day with a historical tour of Lake Minnewanka on the Lake Minnewanka Cruise. Day 4 - Icefields Parkway Tour

Today we have included the Icefields Parkway full day tour.

Duration: 10 hours 45 minutes

Experience the power of glaciers up-close on this exciting tour that highlights the most unique attraction in the Canadian Rockies; the Columbia Icefield Adventure. Travel on a massive Ice Explorer onto an ancient glacier and step out onto ice that is deep enough to bury the Eiffel Tower. Stand in the sky at the Glacier Skywalk, a curved glass walkway that stretches 30 metres from the sheer face of a cliff and hangs mid-air. This tour is filled with exciting experiences, spectacular sights, intriguing stories and the best photo opportunities.

Day 5 - Rocky Mountaineer Banff to Kamloops

Now your venture into the heart of the mountains begins in earnest. Continuing along the South Thompson River, you’ll witness historic Craigellachie. This spot marks where the Last Spike was driven home on the Canadian Pacific Railway line, uniting the nation. You’ll marvel at man’s ingenuity as Rocky Mountaineer enters the Spiral Tunnels, bored through solid rock beneath a mountain over a century ago. You’ll gaze in wonder at cascading waterfalls and icy glaciers spilling over the lips of the peaks above, on your way from the charming alpine town of Banff and the brilliant waters of Lake Louise. All of this craggy wilderness is yours to embrace, from the comfort of your luxurious Rocky Mountaineer coach.

Day 6 - Rocky Mountaineer Kamloops to Vancouver

Journey through the farmlands of the Fraser Valley. From fertile greenery, the landscape transforms to the towering peaks of the Coast Mountains. You’ll see the mighty Fraser River and the raging white waters of Hell’s Gate. The train will slow to fully appreciate this narrow canyon where the volume of water rushing through is about three times greater than Niagara Falls. Then, the landscape undergoes another transformation and you’ll find yourself amid scrub brush and desert.

Day 7 - Whistler, Shannon Falls & Sea to Sky Gondola tour

Today we have included our popular full day Whistler, Shannon Falls and Sea to Sky Gondola tour. Revel in the natural beauty as you wind your way along the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler with a stop at Shannon Falls and the Sea to Sky Gondola. Ride the gondola up Mount Habrich high above the Howe Sound's coastal fjord, take a heart-quickening walk across the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge for views of the surrounding snowcapped mountain peaks. Feel the mist from the roaring water of Shannon Falls on a short nature walk. Explore the many shops and restaurants of Whistler Village where you will have time to yourself. After a full day in the mountains, sit back and relax on your return journey to Vancouver. Duration 10 hours 30 minutes

Prepare to experience the unique history and unfolding splendour as you tour through the modern streets of Vancouver. Drive by the most renowned sights and learn how Vancouver became the city it is today. Situated on the edge of the Pacific Ocean and framed by British Columbia's imposing mountains, it's easy to fall in love with this astonishing city. Drive through historic neighbourhoods such as Gastown, Chinatown, scenic English Bay and the picturesque Vancouver Harbour. Stops in Stanley Park feature Indigenous Peoples' Totem Poles, spectacular views of the mountains and the Lions Gate Bridge. Also includes the opportunity to wander through the charming farmer's market at Granville Island. Remainder of the afternoon at your leisure.

Day 11 - Icy Strait Point, Alaska

Located just 22 miles southeast of Glacier Bay National Park, Icy Strait Point offers travelers the chance to view wildlife like humpback whales, eagles, and brown bears, or to explore monuments to the region’s fishing heritage.

Day 12 - Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier

Alaska’s Endicott Arm Fjord marks the southern edge of the 653,179-acre Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness area. As you sail through its 30-mile-long stretch, you can’t help but be amazed by the untouched beauty of the surrounding granite mountains, verdant valleys and numerous waterfalls. Drifting icebergs, deep blue waters and a spectacular tidewater glacier only add to this natural spectacle’s appeal. Endicott Arm is one of the largest breeding grounds for harbour seals on the planet. Keep your eyes open for these creatures splashing in icy waters near the ship or floating with their pups on giant chunks of ice. Along the shore you might also glimpse brown bears, bald eagles, sea ducks, deer, moose and wolves. Your journey through scenic Endicott Arm Fjord ends with a front-row view of the striking Dawes Glacier. Standing over 600 feet tall and a half-mile wide, this very active icecap is known for its spectacular calving displays which noisily produce huge, chunky icebergs that float in area waters. Remember to dress in wind-resistant layers for viewing scenery outside on deck. ** Please note on some dates Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier is replaced with Hubbard Glacier, ask your Canada Expert to confirm for your selected date **

Day 13 - Juneau, Alaska

Here's your chance to take a glacial dogsled adventure via helicopter in Alaska's capital. A city that gracefully balances frontier ruggedness with cosmopolitan flair. Mendenhall Glacier, a river of ice measuring 1.5 miles in width and over 6 miles in length, is part of Juneau's Icefield, 1500 square miles of ice that feeds 38 glaciers and ready for you to take a float trip on it.

Day 14 - Ketchikan, Alaska

You've never tasted salmon so fresh. Known as the 'Salmon Capital of the World', Ketchikan is also the ancestral home of the Tlingit people, who have carved the world's largest collection of totem poles. If you're up for an adventure, take a canoe and nature trail excursion through the rain forest or a wilderness exploration followed by a sumptuous crab feast you can't resist.
