Day 1 - Houston
Arrive in the largest city in Texas – Houston! Spend the rest of the day at leisure exploring at your own pace.
Day 2 - Lake Charles
Take a short drive to the Johnson NASA Space Center Iadmission included). Each exhibit is self-guided so you can spend as much time in each area as you desire. Don’t forget to take the tram to see Mission Control where some of history’s most memorable moments took place! Arrival late afternoon in Lake Charles “Louisiana’s Playground” and take a relaxing kayak excursion down one of Louisiana’s many bayous.
Day 3 - Lafayette
Arrive mid-morning in Lafayette, the French capital of Louisiana. Tour Vermilionville and learn the history of the Cajuns deportation from Nova Scotia (Canada) and their way of life adjusting to their new homeland. Evening spent listening to local music while dining on authentic Cajun cuisine and hobnobbing with locals at the Bon Temps Grill.
Day 4 - Houma
Morning bayou / swamp tour via boat or airboat (6 years and older), according to your desire, and soak in nature at its best (and perhaps see even an alligator or two!). Before departing for Houma, stop in Avery Island and visit the famed hot sauce factory, Tabasco®. Visit Greenwood Gator Farm just before arriving in Houma and learn the importance this reptile plays in Louisiana trade and folklore.
Day 5 - New Orleans
Morning departure to New Orleans and upon your arrival, tour the beautiful Garden District with its mansions and luscious gardens that gave this district (neighborhood) its’ name. Later Evening to enjoy the vibrant French Quarter nightlife and listen to authentic Jazz music at the famous Fritzel’s Jazz Club (adults only).
Day 6 - New Orleans
Discover the typical narrow streets of the French Quarter dotted with laced balconies and private courtyards on your French Quarter Walking Tour. Afterwards, enjoy a Jazz Brunch at the famous Court of Two Sisters and spend the remainder of the day to shop, visit museums or see other historic sites. In the evening, board a steamboat paddlewheel on your Jazz Dinner Cruise on the Mississippi River!
Day 7 - Baton Rouge
Depart New Orleans and follow the winding River Road along the mighty Mississippi and discover the numerous plantations (choice of two plantations: Destrehan Plantation, Laura Plantation, Oak Alley Plantation or Houmas House & Gardens) that await you before arriving in Baton Rouge, capital of Louisiana. See the panoramic view from the State Capitol and don’t miss the interesting Louisiana State Museum, that displays the history, life and culture of Louisiana.
Day 8 - Natchitoches
Morning departure for Natchitoches, the oldest city in Louisiana. You will fall in love with this charming city known for its southern hospitality. Spend the afternoon visiting Melrose Plantation or Fort St. Jean Baptiste and discover why this area was an important trading post for Native Americans, French, Spanish explorers and eventually American fur traders. Later stroll through this unique town and soak in its lovely ambiance.
Day 9 - Dallas
Before arriving in Dallas, stop in Shreveport to see the Shreveport (Louisiana) Municipal Auditorium where some of America’s greatest musicians got their start, such as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Louis, among others. Upon arrival in Dallas, tour the fascinating Sixth Floor (JFK) Museum at the site where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Afternoon visit historic Ft. Worth, the Cowboy Capital of Texas.
Day 10 - Dallas
In the morning tour the historic Stockyards in Fort Worth, the Cowboy Capital of Texas and see cattle drive firsthand (every morning and afternoon). Enjoy the many restaurants and bars that line the main street. Don't miss a truly Americana / Texan nightlife experience - Billy Bob's Texas or attend a local rodeo (weekends only)!
Day 11 - San Antonio
On your way to San Antonio, if shopping is your passion, don’t miss one of the largest outlet malls in the USA, San Marcos, with over 130 luxury and brand name stores! Continue on to San Antonio – Texas most popular vacation city! Pass the afternoon or evening shopping or relaxing at San Antonio’s famous Riverwalk, with its numerous restaurant and shops!
Day 12 - San Antonio
Morning walking tour of historic San Antonio, including the Spanish Governor’s Palace, the Mexican Market, and the historic Alamo, where 189 defenders held the old mission against some 4,000 Mexican troops for 13 days! Afternoon visiting one or more of the four remaining World Heritage Site Spanish Missions, each with its unique architecture and history.
Day 13 - Houston
Arrive in Houston and visit the Houston Museum of Natural Science – with its numerous ecliptic exhibits. Night to enjoy one of the many Country Western bars/restaurants in Houston or shop to your drop enjoying Texas’ unique Tax-Free Shopping programs
Day 14 - Houston
Spend the day at leisure before returning your rental car and catch the homeward flight.
