Magnificent Yangtze & China Highlights

Day 1 - Beijing

Be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2 - Beijing

This morning  visit Tiananmen Square, the largest square in the world. It’s known as ‘The gate of the  heavenly sky’. Visit the Forbidden City which was the political centre from 1420AC- 1911AC and has 9,999 rooms. The residence of the last two dynasties, the Ming and the Qing

visit Beijing Zoo, here you can see Pandas and other lovely animasl. After this, enjoy a Hutong tour by rickshaw including visiting a local houses. A Hutong is an ancient city alley or lane typical in Beijing, built during the Yuan (1206-1341),  Ming (1368-1628) and Qing (1644-1908) dynasties.

Day 3 - Beijing & the Great Wall

Departure at 07.30 in the morning. After a 2 hour drive you will reach the Jinshanling Great Wall. Jinshanling is the only original route from the Ming Dynasty Great Wall without mass tourism. You can take a 4-hour hike on the wall from the western part of Taochunkou to the eastern part of Houchuankou, lunching with a local family at the foot of the Great Wall

Day 4 - Beijing - Xian

Transfer to train station for your bullet train to Xian

On arrival visit the famous night market in Xian: Muslim Street (Located beside the Drum Tower, it is about 500 meters long from south to north. This street is paved with dark coloured stone with green trees providing heavy shade during summer; the buildings on both sides of the street are modelled on the styles of both the Ming (1368-1644) and the Qing Dynasties (1644-1911). Some of the buildings are restaurants, while others are shops. Enjoy the time, with your guide, and stroll among the stalls of the bazaar.

Day 5 - Xian

Without a doubt the highlight of any visit to Xian and possibly even China is to explore the legacy of The Army of Terracotta Warriors and visit the incredible burial site, where they were discovered only recently. A tour is organized that passes by the Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shihuang and visits the Warriors themselves who stand guard over Emperor Qin’s tomb.

In the afternoon, a visit is arranged to the Old City of Xian and where your guide will bring alive Xian’s association with the mighty Silk Road. Here, you visit the old City Walls, where a short bike or buggy ride is enjoyed.

Day 6 - Xian - Yangtze River

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Chongqing, on arrival transfer from the airport yo your Yangtze cruise ship

Day 7 - Cruise the Yangtze

Spend the day cruising on the Yangtze

Day 8 - Yangtze Cruise

Day 9 - Yichang - Shanghai

Transfer from the cruise ship to Yichang Airport and catch a flight to Shanghai. On arrival transfer to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 10 - Shanghai

The morning will begin with a visit to the Shanghai’s Bund, the city’s famous walkway along some of Puxi’s historical buildings. The area dates back to the 1930s, Shanghai’s rich culture and European influence. 

Transporting from colonial to traditional, head onwards to Shanghai’s old town. Though mostly restored today, visitors can explore the remaining lilongs (equivalent to Beijing’s hutongs), where local Shanghai life goes on as normal. You will also visit the beautiful Yu Gardens. Afterwards, continue on to Xintiandi, a revitalized neighbourhood that now stands as one of the most animated centres of the city. Conclude the Concession walk by traversing Tianzifang, a maze of alleyways and lanes boasting restaurants, boutiques, and small galleries full of authentic, modern art.

In the evening enjoy a night Cruise on HuangPu River.

Day 12 - Shanghai

Today your tour concludes with a transfer to the airport. If time permits enjoy an excursion to the nearby water town of Zhujiajiao before heading to the airport
