Holiday Overview
The smallest state of Australia, Tasmania, is a place not to be missed. The breathtaking nature and beautiful coastlines provide a scenic backdrop for your journey. Visit Cradle Mountain and take the enchanted walk where you'll pass scenic waterfalls, pools, moorland and rainforest. Strahan is a former convict town on the fringe of the Tasmanian Wilderness Area and gateway to the serene Gordon River. Freycinet National Park affords stunning scenery, a walk to the lookout point at wineglass bay is well worth the effort. Port Arthur is a town full of convict history and makes you feel like you are travelling back in time. States Visited – Tasmania Start/End – Hobart

Day 3 - Strahan
Spend the day exploring the region, perhaps take a Gordon River cruise?
Day 4 - Strahan - Cradle Mountain
Tasmania’s most recognisable landmark is the craggy profile of Cradle Mountain, at the northern gateway to the Overland Track linking Cradle Valley to Lake St Clair, four to six days walk south. On the park boundary is the visitor centre with its interpretive display, ranger station, park information, walker registration and up-to-date weather reports. Alpine weather changes rapidly always carry waterproof gear, even on summer day walks. There are many superb short walks from the centre and the Dove Lake car park, 14 kilometres further on.
Day 5 - Cradle Mountain
Spend a full day enjoying the rugged beauty of Cradle Mountain
Day 6 - Cradle Mountain - Launceston
Launceston is a vibrant hub for food, wine and culture. There's also a touch of wilderness with Cataract Gorge just a few minutes walk from the city centre. The city is located on the banks of the Tamar River and is the gateway to the Tamar Valley, a region where English conservatism sits happily alongside the unconventional and off beat.
Day 7 - Launceston - Freycinet
Freycinet National Park is home to dramatic pink granite peaks, secluded bays, white sandy beaches and abundant birdlife. Situated on Tasmania's beautiful east coast, the park occupies most of the Freycinet Peninsula and looks out to the Tasman Sea from the eastern side and back towards the Tasmanian coastline from the west.
Day 8 - Freycinet
Spend a full day enjoying the beauty of Freycinet
Day 9 - Freycinet - Port Arthur
Port Arthur is a quaint village best known for the well-preserved penal colony buildings of the nearby Port Arthur Historic Site. Set on the tip of the Tasman Peninsula, Port Arthur is a great base to explore the historic site and the area's natural attractions including dramatic coastal rock formations and towering cliffs. The Port Arthur Historic Site was established in 1830 as a timber station and was soon built into a small town to house and punish over a thousand of Tasmania's most notorious convicts. This dark history contrasts with the beauty of the surrounding area. Full of powerful stories of hardship and loss, it's one of Tasmania's most rewarding travel experiences.
