The Marquette Maritime Museum's mission is to protect and preserve the maritime history of Marquette, Lake Superior, and all the Great Lakes, and to remember our submarine veterans. The Museum, a nonprofit,  opened in the old City Waterworks building in June of 1984. The building (1891) is a one-story, stone, hipped-roof Richardsonian Romanesque style structure with a parapeted front gable and rounded arch windows designed by architect D. Fred Charlton.

The Marquette blues festivial is an annual event that has been held for 18 consecutive years which features three days of world class blues on the shores of Lake Superior in the Mattson Lower Harbor Park in downtown Marquette. The Festival is put on in the month of september.  The festival continues the tradition of an amazing array of world-class blues musicians and offers a wide variety of food vendors, a beer & wine tent, free workshops, and assorted arts and crafts booths. The festival kicks off with a free concert on Friday night to thank the community for their continuing support!
